Most important events

Our special celebration of the arrival of spring. Dedicated to the patron saint of farmers, since it was first held in 1970 it has evolved, without losing its original spirit, to incorporate all the city’s different sectors and entities. Exhibitions of the best produce from the fields; a special Concurso-Exposición de Frutos del Campo (Fruits of the Field Competition-Show); workshops; the Muestra Gastronómica (Food Fair); attractions for the kids, and shows, all waiting for you in Viladecans. More information.

Every summer since 1990 the streets of the old town fill with magic, art and excitement. The Festival Al Carrer is considered one of the most important dates in the Catalan calendar for street performing arts. But what makes us most proud is to hear the applause of young and old enjoying shows put on by artists from all over the world. Come and live the city as a giant stage!

Who says winter has to be grey? In Viladecans it’s full of colour! Each year, around the time of St Sebastian’s day (January 20th), we celebrate the Fiesta Mayor (town festival). For a few days, the Plaza de la Vila becomes the epicentre of a party that never stops. We’ve got it all: a charity fair; guided tours of the historic buildings; shows for all the family; exhibitions in the Viladecans Museum; music; folk dances; the Viladecans giants and devils; the Night of the Mammoth; a vermouth social, and the grand prize for the Viladecans parade! More information

Did you know the La Cubana theatre group helped Viladecans to achieve the world record for blowing up balloons? That was back in 1989, but we’re just as much fun today. Just come and see for yourself around the 8th of September, day of the Virgen de Sales, patron saint of our city. You’ll find giants; music everywhere; traditional “habaneras” (Cuban music) with hot rum on Viladecans beach; displays from the Colla de Castellers (human towers); the “Mamullada” (mammoth parade) to cool off in the heat, and the Viladecans Colla de Diables (Devils Association) playing with fire. And of course, you mustn’t miss the pyromusical show!

One of the most anticipated and popular markets of the year takes you on an astonishing journey back in time, from the 21st century to the Middle Ages. In the Barri Antic (old town) and the surrounding urban area of the Eixample, a multitude of perfectly-decorated stalls with crafts and food spring up. Gasp at knightly duels, take a walk through the military encampment, enter the medieval tavern, and even enjoy a medieval banquet. More information
