Each May we love to celebrate spring with the Fira de Sant Isidre, patron saint of farmers. Join us for one of the most important events in Viladecans!
The Fira de Sant Isidre revolves around our farming roots. There are exhibitions of the best produce from the fields; a farmer’s market organised by the Agricultural Cooperative; tastings and workshops at the Muestra Gastronómica (Food Fair) to experience our local produce. We like to keep our farming values alive and share them with you.
Did you know it was first held in 1970? A few years have gone by since then but we still get excited when the date approaches each year. During the celebrations, the wide range of activities laid on for young and old alike brings people into the streets to enjoy the good weather we start to get around this time of year.
More than a trade fair
Each year more sectors join the trade fair and the Muestra de Entidades (Associations Fair), bringing together all the associations, local businesses, sporting clubs, federations and offices of Viladecans to represent as wide a range of interests as possible.
One of the most popular activities during the Fira de Sant Isidre also just happens to be the oldest: the Concurso-Exposición de Frutos del Campo (Fruits of the Field Competition-Show), a unique opportunity to see how locally-grown produce is transformed into fascinating works of art with a little creativity. Choose your favourite!
SANT ISIDORE COMPETITION
The fair isn’t just a few informative stands though. Quite the opposite, it’s a dynamic, fun and entrepreneurial space. Every year during the Muestra de Entidades there’s a competition. Now in its fifth year, the competition is a huge success thanks to the enthusiasm of over 1,500 citizens, as well as the numerous associations that take over the square during the Fair.
The Feria Comercial (Trade Fair) is held around the Cúbic exhibition venue, the Plaza de la Mediterrànea – site of the Muestra Gastronómica – the Parc de la Marina and Passiege de la Marina. Entrance to the Fair is free but advance registration is necessary to participate in certain activities in the program.
