Promoting sustainable mobility

Viladecans participates in the project GreenMob - Multimodal journey planner for sustainable travel in the framework of the EIT Urban Mobility initiative. The project aims to address the challenges of urban mobility by promoting sustainable transport options, reducing pollution and providing a certified CO2 emissions calculator.

The project will develop a journey planner that will integrate various modes of transport, providing users with detailed information on routes, timetables, fares and real-time updates, recognising the mode of transport used and calculating its emissions. This feature will enable users to make informed decisions considering the environmental impact of their travel choices, reducing CO2 emissions, promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly transport and increasing sustainability and data awareness.

The solution will be tested in three cities: Cesena (Italy), Debrecen (Hungary) and Viladecans.

Viladecans City Council considered the proposal as a good opportunity to promote sustainable urban mobility that can contribute to achieving the City Mission to make Viladecans an emission neutral city by 2030, as well as to promote more environmentally responsible citizen behaviours.

The keys to the project

The project is coordinated by CARNET - Future Mobility Research Hub and involves the following partners: Instant System (a technology company that develops applications and solutions in the field of mobility), WeCity (a technology company that promotes sustainable mobility through the certification of CO2 savings thanks to artificial intelligence tools), the public transport company of the Romagna region (Start Romagna), the municipalities of Cesena (Italy) and Debrecen (Hungary), the transport company of Debrecen and Viladecans

The objectives of GreenMob are to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly transport and to raise awareness of sustainability and data, reducing CO2 emissions

The GreenMob project has a duration of twelve months, from January to December 2024.

  1. During the first four months, technical adjustments will be made to adapt the solutions to the three municipalities where the pilots will be carried out. The application consists of a journey planner including a CO2 emissions calculator.

  2. From May to September 2024, pilots will be implemented in Viladecans, Cesena and Debrecen.

  3. Finally, from August until the end of the year, the results of the three pilots will be evaluated
