More than 500 people pedal for sustainable mobility

Last Sunday, September 17, the city celebrated the European Sustainable Mobility Week with the traditional Popular Bicycle Tour. Participants of all ages have pedalled together in a great citizen festival on wheels that has travelled through a good part of the city, also passing through the new neighbourhood of Levante. The cyclists have been able to enjoy the protest route to give more prominence to sustainable means of transport when traveling. The event included a healthy lunch, a prize draw and activities for the little ones.

The City Council has taken advantage of the event to inform about the two new actions for sustainable mobility that will be launched in the city in 2024. On the one hand, the premiere of the new Low Emissions Zone (ZBE) in the Metropolitan Area of Barcelona, with restrictions for vehicles that do not have an environmental label. On the other hand, the creation of the first green regulated parking zones, a priority for local vehicles, as well as the expansion of blue and orange zones in commercial environments and supra-municipal public facilities, such as the new hospital.
