Sergio Garrote Wins Double Silver at the Ronse World Championships

The athlete from Viladecans has done it again at the UCI Road Para-cycling World Championships in Ronse, where he became double runner-up, both in the time trial and in the road race for handbikers and tricycles. Just 27 and 30 seconds behind Frenchman Florian Jouanny, who led both races respectively, Garrote adds two more medals to his extensive sporting career.

On the final day of competition, the Spanish national team finished sixth in the team relay event, surpassing only the Netherlands. Even so, the team made up of Sergio Garrote, David Mouriz, and Luis Garcia-Marquina defended a very close race with dignity, finishing just two minutes behind the French team, once again triple leaders in the category.

Speaking to the microphones of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, Garrote emphasized that “once you arrive in Ronse, you have to keep a cool head so as not to lose it,” adding that he is very satisfied with having won his two silvers.

Thus, the athlete bids farewell to the international championship, reaffirming himself as a historic figure in road para-cycling, having demonstrated since 2017 his professional merit with 3 gold, 8 silver, and 6 bronze medals at the Union Cyclist Internationale’s biggest event.
