GreenMob nears completion: Debrecen consortium meeting & Viladecans pilot results

As the GreenMob project reaches its final phase, it is time to recap on the progress of the last few months.

The latest consortium meeting of the GreenMob project was held on 20 November in Debrecen, Hungary. The meeting was attended by the project coordinator CARNET and the project partners Wecity, Instant System, Debrecen, DKV (the transport operator of the municipality of Debrecen) and Viladecans, as well as representatives from EIT Urban Mobility, the European initiative that has financed the project.

Following an official welcome from the Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, Puskás István, and by the CEO of DKV, Tóth Szabolcs, a series of presentations were delivered by the technological partners (CARNET, Wecity and Instant System) and the host, DKV, Debrecen's public transport company. The latter presented its CO2 emissions calculator and the results of the pilot.

The meeting provided an invaluable opportunity to share the findings of the pilots carried out in Viladecans and Debrecen, as well as to present the overall results of the project to EIT Urban Mobility.

The pilot of the GreenMoV app, developed by Wecity, Instant System and Viladecans City Council, has been a great success, with over 1,000 uses of the app and 254 unique users from July until November 2024. The pilot has involved mainly employees of the City Council and the municipal companies of Viladecans, demonstrating the organisation's commitment towards sustainable mobility and technological innovation.

The GreenMoV app pilot has served to improve the functioning and integration of Wecity's certified CO2 emissions calculator and Instant System's sustainable journey planner, enabling the further development of applications that promote the adoption of sustainable modes of transport.

Furthermore, the above-mentioned solutions have been disseminated to local and municipal companies, as well as to supra-local public authorities.

The technological products owned by Instant System and Wecity and improved during the project are ready for commercialisation.

The GreenMob project in Viladecans has a budget of 28.538 EUR, 67% of which is financed by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), a body of the European Union. The EIT Urban Mobility initiative acts to accelerate positive change in mobility to make urban spaces more liveable. The emphasis of the Innovation Programme 2023-2025 is to advance commercially viable solutions, services and products that support these objectives.
