Cal Francès Beach

THIS IS CAL FRANCÈS BEACH

Continuing on from La Pineda lies Cal Francès

Ready to enjoy one of the most special beaches in all Barcelona?

Less than 300 metres long, this peaceful, deserted beach is part of the Llobregat Delta Natural Area. Pristine and isolated, it is one of only two – along with El Remolar – to be awarded “Virgin Beach” status by NGO Ecologists in Action. So it’s a perfect destination for nature lovers

If you want something interesting to do as well as relax on the beach, we recommend the walk to the lookout point next to Cal Francès, from where you can enjoy views of the surrounding area. You’ll feel like you’re miles from anywhere!

To conserve this special ecosystem, the beach is not mechanically cleaned. Therefore, you might find the odd bit of organic matter here and there, especially if the sea has been rough recently. Remember though that this is an essential food source for coastal birds. In order not to disturb nesting sites, the vegetated dunes are not cleaned either. We try to interfere as little as possible with the area!

A beach where you can enjoy nature in its purest state

The impact of human activity is kept to a minimum on this beach. Therefore, all you’ll find are litter bins and wooden access walkways.

The beach can be accessed via the path through the El Remolar-Filipinas Natural Area. In summer, parking for 350 vehicles is available outside the Area, a 1.4 km walk from the beach. On weekdays between October and May you can park within the Area, just 350 from the beach (at weekends the barrier is closed).

By public transport, the L99 bus drops you by the airport employees’ car park at Terminal 1, 1.9 km away.
